Challenges

See current details below regarding the latest AQG Challenge! (Should any information change it will be updated here, so please check back regularly).

The Dorothy Collard Challenge: Strictly Architectural, Strictly Local

Hand in Date: 11 October 2025

For our guild the Auckland Region means ‘that part of the North Island north and west of, and including, the town of Taupo’.  Any member currently residing outside of the ‘political’ Auckland region but within the guild region may use their local architecture as inspiration.  Not any other area.

This challenge will be exhibited as part of the Auckland Festival of Quilts in November.  You may enter as not judged if you wish.

Please follow these guidelines:

  • Strictly the built environment, the exterior or a public space such as a foyer or atrium.
  • Your quilt should fit within the size 20” × 30”
  • It may have a horizontal or vertical orientation according to your interpretation, and need not be rectangular.
  • The quilt must have three layers and have some quilting.
  • Hook Velcro sewn to top back
  • A label on the back with title, maker’s name, phone no. and guild no.
  • Hand in at the October meeting.
  • Judged at Auckland Festival of Quilts

Hope this helps your inspiration.
