Exhibitions & Events

Auckland Quilt Guild members have a number of opportunities throughout the year to show off their skills, enjoy engaging with and supporting the AQG.

Auckland Festival of Quilts

Our premier event is Auckland Festival of Quilts. This show is presented by the AQG every two years. This is our opportunity to share our work with the public at large.
The exhibition comprises a display of members’ work divided into various categories, demonstrations of products and techniques, a merchants’ mall selling the latest in fabrics, quilt related products and Christmas decorations, and a special exhibition related to the theme for the year.

All members are encouraged to enter.

Events

The AQG is always looking for opportunities to support member engagement through organising events. Some events may be small, some large, but each one is curated with quilt related fun in mind.

For information on our latest events, please check the website regularly.

If you have an idea, a contact person, or a potential venue opportunity that may suit an AQG event, please get in touch with the Committee – you can email the details to: committee@aqg.org.nz

Challenges

The AQG was fortunate to be gifted a sum of money to be used towards creating member challenges. This money was used well with a positive response from members. You are welcome to visit the gallery of previous challenges to get an idea of what has been completed to date.

In 2024, the AQG has reviewed this category and is pleased to proceed with exciting new challenges for members. Where the AQG previously presented the Dorothy Collard Challenge, we will now be presenting the Pounamu/Greenstone Challenge, in honour of the trophy donated by Dorothy Collard’s estate. Keep checking the website for updates as there may be additional challenge opportunities popping up from time to time also!

The challenge pieces tend to be smaller in size with consideration given for freedom of artistic interpretation and expression.

For further information on our latest challenge opportunities and details including deadline for entry, please click the link below and check the website regularly in case of any updates, clarifications or changes.

Guild Meetings

Guild meetings are held regularly (typically monthly – but please check the dates on the website or in the newsletter to keep up to date).

At our Guild meetings members are invited to share their current work and projects with Show and Tell.  The AQG arranges for guest speakers to inform, educate and enthrall you with their varied stories and interesting knowledge and skills.

All members are encouraged to attend the meetings. This is a great opportunity to mix and mingle with other members and meet the Committee working hard to bring great opportunities to the members.
